38RI Robot Block Party Returns to Brown

On April 7, 2018 the Rhode Island Robot Block Party, an expo founded by the Rhode Island Students of the Future in partnership with the Humanity Centered Robotics Initiative and the Department of Computer Science, will highlight the innovation of our state’s robotic community. Bringing together industry, universities, community organizations, and K-12 schools, it will be open to the public and included numerous pieces of robotic equipment that ranged from ocean exploration devices to animatronic toys. The event is presented by the Humanity Centered Robotics Initiative at Brown University and Rhode Island Students of the Future, and it was a Rhode Island Monthly Editor’s Choice “Best of” Award winner in 2015.

“Robotics technology will fuel a broad array of products and solutions in manufacturing, health care, agriculture, national defense, and transportation. Robots are also an engaging way for young students to learn about science, technology, engineering, and math . . . Robot Block Party is a fun way to build the skills that prepare our students for a 21st century workforce.”

Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo
